Safe turkey cooking tips begin with removing the turkey neck and giblets. Rinse off the turkey both inside and out with cold running water and pat dry with paper towels. Trim off any excess neck skin and lumps of fat.

- Preheat the oven to 325°F before cooking the turkey.
- Lightly spoon the stuffing into the turkey. Do not pack the turkey stuffing too tightly.

- Roast the the turkey for 15-17 minutes per pound. Plan for turkey cooking times of at least three hours for a 10-pound bird.
- Cover the turkey breast with aluminum foil to prevent the breast meat from becoming over-brown.
- Baste the turkey every 30-35 minutes with the turkey juices from the bottom of the roasting pan.
- After roasting, let the turkey stand on your carving board for 15 minutes before carving.
